This year, Harbor Beach is fortunate to once again have a School Resource Officer in our building daily. Welcome Officer Dave Wilson to our school! Get to know a little more about Officer Wilson: How long have you been a police officer? I have been a police officer for 14 years. Where did you attend high school? I attended Harbor Beach High School. What are you most excited about in your new role? I'm excited to be in a position to help bridge the gap between students and law enforcement. Having a chance to have positive interactions with kids and showing that police contact doesn't always need to be for a negative reason. What made you want to work at Harbor Beach Schools? I have coached youth sports for over 10 years and have always enjoyed helping the kids and watching them grow. I wanted to use this opportunity to help keep the school safe while I also get to watch the students grow throughout the school year. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Forestville. What do you do around the school? My number one job is ensuring that students and staff are safe but aside from that, I talk with students and build relationships with them, I also assist the staff with any issues they may have. What are some of your hobbies outside of being a police officer? I like to camp and deer hunt. I also coach hockey and middle school football.

These students will be creating much of the content you see here on Facebook. Be sure to head over to Instagram and follow "harborbeachschools" as we will be sharing lots there too. What would you like to see shared on our school social media pages? Feel free to send ideas to pr@hbpirates.org anytime!

Harbor Beach Community Schools received a generous donation from the Estate of Horace and Lorraine (Pranke) Storrs of over $500,000 to support students' post-secondary endeavors. It will be used to create a Student Savings Account for every student who attends Harbor Beach Community Schools. An initial deposit of $100.00 per student will establish the account. Yearly deposits of a determined amount will then be made as a student progresses towards graduation. These student accounts will be open to both philanthropic and private donations. The HBCS Board of Education signed an agreement at tonight's meeting with the Huron County Community Fund and Frankenmuth Credit Union creating a partnership to facilitate and oversee these funds. Lorraine Pranke Storrs was a 1951 graduate of Harbor Beach Community Schools. The board expressed sincere thanks to the Storrs family, HCCF, Frankenmuth Credit Union as well as the HB Education Endowment members for this exciting program. If you have any questions about this program, please reach out to Mr. Chilman at wchilman@hbpirates.org or (989) 479-3261 Ext 53600.

We had a birthday in Mrs. Bishop's 4-Year-Old Preschool! Our Preschool friends shared their birthday pictures using support chairs! We also made magic playdough. All of our friends started with white playdough. If the color changed when we squished it then the magic worked and we would have a great year! The magic worked, the color changed and it's going to be a great year!!
