Today is National Paraprofessional Appreciation Day! We are eternally grateful for the fantastic paraprofessionals here at HBCS!
Planning ahead to next school year? See the attached calendar!
Congrats to the first female powerlifters in HBHS history: Hailey Bishop (L) and Ava Woodward (R)!
Hailey: 2024 State Qualifier; 510 lbs. at state finals! "Although I had many early mornings of waking up and going to meets, I had an amazing time meeting new friends and lifting heavy weight."
Ava: "395 was my most lifted at a meet. I've never had more fun in any other sport. I can't wait for next year!"
Due to the snow day before break, the elementary wrapped up reading month this morning. Their reading goal was 3,000 books read by the end of the month. PreK- 5th grade crushed the goal with 3,180 books read! Students earned a new Harbor Beach Pirates shirt for achieving their goal! Teachers chose one student from each grade that has been working really hard on their reading and went above and beyond for reading month. These students recevied a reading pillow made and donated by Mary Booms, substitude teacher. Thank you Mary!
Winners were:
KDG - Easton Cook
1st - Bodhi Southard
2nd - Sawyer Pleiness
3rd - Emercyn Stallings
4th - Cole Rossow
5th - Sebastian Farlow
Congratulations readers! And thank you elementary staff for making March such a fun month filled with reading!

Welcome back from break! We hope you had a refreshing break and are ready to finish the school year strong!
Our final March is Reading Month tip! Please enjoy your spring break and don't forget to sneak in some reading.
Don't forget about comics when choosing books!
One of the first stages of reading is using the pictures to tell the story. Try it with your child!
Harbor Beach Community Schools will be closed tomorrow, March 22nd due to the incoming storm. Stay safe and we will see you all after Spring Break!
Our 3rd and final March is Reading Month challenge! Enjoy some quiet reading time today.
Just a reminder that spring break is next week. Enjoy your time off, Pirates!
Kids love to discuss stories as they read!
As the 3rd marking period draws to a close, we wanted to recognize this group of Middle School PR Class students for a job well done! These 7th and 8th graders create most of the posts you see here. Our 4th and final group will start on April 1 and they would love to know what you would like to see shared!
Find some poems to share with your reader today instead of their usual books!
Try out an ebook for something different!
Congratulations bowlers!
Thursday is 5th grade lunch day! As part of the Healthy Meals Incentive Grant that HBCS received, the 5th graders collaborated with Mrs. Cook on a delicious lunch of their choosing. Bon Appetit!
Head to the library together and get a book for your student AND for yourself!
The week before spring break is a busy one here at HBCS!
