Harbor Beach Community Schools received a generous donation from the Estate of Horace and Lorraine (Pranke) Storrs of over $500,000 to support students' post-secondary endeavors. It will be used to create a Student Savings Account for every student who attends Harbor Beach Community Schools. An initial deposit of $100.00 per student will establish the account. Yearly deposits of a determined amount will then be made as a student progresses towards graduation. These student accounts will be open to both philanthropic and private donations. The HBCS Board of Education signed an agreement at tonight's meeting with the Huron County Community Fund and Frankenmuth Credit Union creating a partnership to facilitate and oversee these funds. Lorraine Pranke Storrs was a 1951 graduate of Harbor Beach Community Schools. The board expressed sincere thanks to the Storrs family, HCCF, Frankenmuth Credit Union as well as the HB Education Endowment members for this exciting program.
