The Service Leadership class wanted to recognize teachers for all that they do. They decided to begin a "teacher of the month" program. They created and distributed a survey for 6th- to 12th-grade students and interviewed elementary students. They used the data from the surveys and interviews to decide the first round of honorees. Meet the Teachers of the Month for March!

Welcome back, Pirates! We hope you had a wonderful break. Here is what is happening this week at HBCS.

Show your love for the Class of 2025!

We wanted to share an exciting update about our 3-Year-Old & 4-Year-Old Preschool Programs for next fall. We began enrollment just a month ago, and we are thrilled by the interest from families in our community!
At our preschool, we strive to provide:
✅ A safe, nurturing, and engaging environment
✅ High-quality early childhood education
✅ Hands-on learning experiences designed to help children grow and thrive
As of now, we have only 3 spots available for the 3YO preschool and 1 spot available for our GSRP 4YO preschool for the fall. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please feel free to reach out. We’d love to answer any questions and help you explore if our program is the right fit for your child. The Kindergarten class welcomed representatives from the office of Congresswoman McClain. They enjoyed a story where they learned about what the government is.

We used up some of the last food items donated from the Port Hope fall food drives! Students in Ms. McIntyre’s Creative Studies/Life skills class made homemade onion rings! They were a huge hit! Fresh ingredients, healthy oils, no preservatives! They were shared with students and staff. 🧅💪🏻#healthyeating #cleaneating #yummy

One of our amazing substitutes, Mary Booms, donated hand-made reading bags for two students in each class in the elementary. Students were chosen by the teachers for their reading throughout the month and contribution to our whole school reading goal. Congratulations to the students for their hard work and a big THANK YOU to Mary Booms for making these beautiful bags.

US Representative Lisa McClain donated a new US flag for the school. It was flown over the US Capitol on February 21, 2025.
The high school Active Minds and Youth in Government clubs participated in raising the flag for the first time.
